Tourism Information

Blythedale Beach lies on the subtropical Dolphin Coast of South Africa's famed KwaZulu-Natal Province, also known as The Zulu Kingdom. Some 72km (45 miles) from Durban, Blythedale Beach is an unspoilt holiday haven set within the extensive Blythedale Conservancy. This encompasses not only pristine beaches but its own National Heritage Site on the Umvoti River which is a favourite birdwatching spot. Blythedale Beach itself is protected by shark nets and, in addition to swimming, is popular for surfing, jet-skiing, ski-boating, surf fishing, crayfish and mussels. Whale and dolphin-watching as well as outstanding golf courses nearby are also popular attractions. Whatever attracts you, Blythedale Beach offers accommodation for all tastes. Accommodation ranges from bed & breakfast guesthouses and lodges to self-catering cottages, chalets, duplexes and houses. The moving memorial to King Shaka stands in the neighbouring town of kwaDukuza (aka Stanger). A leisurely drive from Blythedale Beach takes you to the famous Anglo-Zulu battlefields, Zululand game reserves and Lake St Lucia World Heritage Site - all offering excellent accommodation
